Udu Assembly Race: Sakpra Alerts APC Exco, Fixes April 14 for Declaration
A frontline political figure in Udu Local Government Area, Hon. Chief Dr. Henry Afure Sakpra, today Monday, April 13, 2026, paid an unscheduled visit to members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government Executive Committee and Ward Chairmen at the residence of the Party Chairman at Ubogo Community in Udu Local Government area of Delta State.
The visit, which drew key stakeholders of the party, was aimed at formally informing the party leadership of his intention to contest for the Delta State House of Assembly, Udu Constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Sakpra stated that his decision to join the race was borne out of a desire to further advance development in Udu and consolidate on his track record of service. He used the opportunity to officially invite the LGA Executive Committee members and Ward Chairmen to his formal declaration ceremony scheduled to hold on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, by 10:00am at his residence.
The meeting witnessed an outpouring of support from party executives, many of whom took turns to commend Sakpra’s performance during his tenure as Chairman of Udu Local Government Council. They described him as a tested administrator with a verifiable record of grassroots development.
In his remarks, the APC LGA Chairman, Rt. Hon. Evangelist David Siloko, who served as Leader of the Legislative Arm during Sakpra’s administration, recalled several people-oriented projects and impactful initiatives executed under his leadership. He noted that Sakpra’s tenure was marked by purposeful governance and tangible development across communities in Udu.
Also speaking, the LGA Treasurer, Chief Balance, highlighted Sakpra’s welfare driven policies, particularly the payment of monthly stipends to elders across Udu communities during his time in office. He described the gesture as unprecedented and reflective of Sakpra’s commitment to inclusivity and social support.
The unanimous endorsements and testimonies from party leaders underscored growing confidence in Sakpra’s ambition, as stakeholders expressed readiness to mobilize support for his candidacy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
